The national and regional governments have designated the area between Benidorm and the village of Finestrat as area of sustainable economic and residential growth. Investment is being made into infrastructure and work on a new 270 million Euro comercial centre has just started. The first nine holes of the new Puig Campana Golf course are now open for business and new stores are opening in the La Marina Bulevard and Commercial Centre.
Alongside the comercial investment there are new resorts
After Christmas, the New Year and finally Three Kings things start to go a little quiet in Benidorm. That is not to say there is no one around, just a different sort of visitor. The hotels are probably over 50% occupied mostly by the over 55’s enjoying some winter sun and a long holiday at a very affordable price. Benidorm is probably the only genuine year round resort on the Mediterranean and the holiday apartments operate at 80% occupancy year round. For much of the year the majority of the people visiting Benidorm are from the UK and Ireland, but when the summer comes the Spanish flock to Benidorm and the demand for holiday apartments is at an all time high.
